Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in America. Her work has earned her recognition for her film and TV performances since the early 1980s. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father when she was around five. Bassett and her younger sister later went from the city of St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett decided to be an actress after she saw the stage play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. Yale University New Haven Connecticut, where she received her bachelor's degree in African American and master's degrees (1983). Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. They married in 1997.
